Unpopular Take: The Narrow Road and the Middle of the Road Aren't the Same Thing

But the extremes ain't it, either

Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. —Jesus (Matthew 7:13-14)

This is the first one, and posting the above Jesus quote just made me realize we’ll have to have a post about heaven and hell one of these times. But that’s not what we’re going to talk about today because (maybe this is a twofer post) unpopular take: I don’t think Jesus is talking about heaven and hell here. I think He’s talking about how we live and the choices we make in this life, and about the gates and the roads themselves, and not particularly about any next-life destinations.
