’s excellent and gently empowering book, Spiritual Practices for Soul Care, and the idea for this post popped into my head. I guess it’s evidence of how contrarian I am, when I know and love and respect the author of the thing I’m reading and, what’s more, agree with her, and still my brain defaults to thinking of exceptions.Don’t get me wrong. The most gracious and emotionally healthy people I know are people who have a robust sense of gratitude. But some of the bitterest, least spiritually fulfilled folk I know are also people who report practicing gratitude. What’s the difference?
