Gathering and Scattering…What, Exactly?
Sometimes I have my stuff together; sometimes I’m all over the place.
—Jenn (that’s me)
One time, during a somewhat directionless period of my life, I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do with it, and I realized that what I really like to do is gather with already or not yet friends over a cup of tea or coffee and scatter stories—especially ones about Jesus.
Ever since then, although the expression has changed multiple times over the years, I’ve tried to fashion my life around this preference. Gathered and Scattered is one of a few online ways that I gather my thoughts and scatter them…largely in hopes that others will gather with me and scatter their ideas here, too—and maybe we can discover something together.
Focus on Your Interests
There’s a not-entirely-set-in-stone1 monthly schedule that follows a set pattern of themes, and you get to choose which and how much ends up in your inbox every month.
On the Gathered and Scattered homepage, find your profile in the upper right corner and select “Manage subscription” in the dropdown menu.
Scroll down to the Notifications section and toggle ON or OFF any sections you want to receive emails or notifications for—as much or as little as you want.
Thanks for being here.
Whether we’re talking about Jesus, the Bible, and spiritual formation; other books, writing, and art; or even the ridiculous-to-sublime events of our lives, I’m glad to be here with you.
Also! I’d love to get to know you better, and make this newsletter better. Drop me an email or a message on Substack and let me know a little about you? I also hope you’ll take a minute to fill in the reader survey so I can make sure I’m up to date on what you’re here to read, and what you think about plain yoghurt.
Thank you!
As I say at the end of my Pilgrimage emails, Travel well.

I’m growing in my capacity to extend grace…and also to receive it for myself. I try very hard to stick to my schedule, but I also endeavor not to beat myself up if I miss a post every so often. Thanks for understanding this!
